DIRECTORS’ BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth Wood and Gabriel Nussbaum met at the Hamptons Int’l Film Festival in 2005, where they both had work in presentation.

Three months later they moved to New Orleans, to teach free film and theater classes in schools that were struggling after Hurricane Katrina. Wade in the Water, Children is the result of work produced by students in one of their film courses. The first version of the film premiered at the Hamptons Film Fest in ’07 under the title Wade in the Water.

Elizabeth is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang College at New School University, and currently in the MFA Film Program at Columbia University; Gabriel studied performance and directing at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

The directors currently live and work in New York City, where they have established Bank Street Films.

Currently they are in production on a documentary about Ruth, a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor and Hollywood luminary. It is a story of long-kept secrets, unrestrained passion, dangerous escape, and enduring youth.

Two narrative short films are premiering in 2011:

HOW IT ENDED, a Super-16mm short directed by Nussbaum and Exec-Produced by Wood, and starring Debra Winger, Larry Pine, and Halley Feiffer; and LOFT, a short directed by Wood and Exec Produced by Nussbaum.
